What should my child wear to camp?
Wear appropriate play clothes – we get dirty! Closed-toe shoes or sneakers are required. No flip-flops, open-toe sandals, or shoes without backstraps are permitted.
Will camp be canceled if it rains?
No. Camp will not be canceled due to rain. The location will change, but the camp will be held in all weather conditions
What conditions cause a change in camp location?
Our preferred location is always the woods. We move to the park if being in the woods carries any risk to our staff and campers. These conditions include:
Risk of heavy rain or thunderstorms
Excessive heat
Muddy conditions
Excessive mosquito activity
Can my child bring a cell phone?
No cell phones or electronic devices are permitted at camp.
What are the rules and expectations regarding campers’ behavior?
Summer Alive is a safe, supportive community. Bullying, dangerous play, leaving the activity area, and aggression of any kind will not be tolerated. Discipline includes verbal warnings, one-on-one discussions, and time-outs.
What if my child has special needs or medical considerations?
All special considerations—including medications, allergies, behavioral issues, food sensitivities, and illnesses—must be specified on the registration form. If anything changes after registration, please contact us as soon as possible.
Can my child attend more than one session?
Yes. Children may attend both age-appropriate sessions for a total of two weeks.
What is the fee for paying online?
Summer Alive charges $75 per session. If tuition is paid via the website, there is an Internet processing fee that goes to Givebutter, our non-profit payment platform, and allows us to use the service at no cost. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to provide an optional tip that goes entirely to Givebutter, not to Summer Alive. If you wish to decline the tip, you can do so in the drop-down window.
My child attended camp last year. Can he/she attend again this year?
Of course! We welcome both new and returning campers.
Do I need to sign anything before camp starts?
Yes. All parents and guardians must sign a liability waiver at drop-off on the first day of camp.
What time is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off begins at 8:45 AM, and pick-up is from 1:45 to 2:00 PM. Please be prompt.
How many children attend each session?
Each session accepts up to 20 children. Registration is closed when that number is reached.
Are there any field trips or off-site activities?
At this time, all camp activities take place in the woods and park.
Will my child’s photo appear on the Summer Alive website and social media accounts?
That decision is completely up to you. We do take lots of photos of Summer Alive campers. These photos are used on social media, the SA website, in PowerPoint presentations, and in grant applications and other promotional and fundraising materials. On the first day of camp, you will be asked to sign a document that either allows or denies us to take and use photos of your child. We will honor and abide by your decision.
How are medical emergencies handled?
There is at least one adult certified in CPR. A well-stocked First Aid Kit is available at all times. Parents are notified right away if there has been an accident
Can someone other than a parent pick up the child?
Someone other than a parent must be on the parent’s contact sheet. Name and phone number included.
What activities does camp include?
Morning Circle each morning.
Centers: Wood Shop, Potion Making, Arts and Crafts, Group Games and Cooperation and Teamwork, Wood Carving, Mud Kitchen.
We allow the children to dive deep into their play. We watch the magic unfold. It is freeing and transformative for both the adult and the child involved: What we notice, the sound of their laughter, how they look doing something they love.
Cooperation and teamwork are part of everything we do at Summer Alive.
